Can a Millertech Auxiliary Battery Charge Phones During a Power Outage?

Yes. Keep a charged Max 8.0 and its hub in the house, and you can keep phones and tablets running when the power goes out. It’s also a quiet way to charge USB devices at an off-grid homestead, in a cabin or in a tiny home.

Can a Millertech Auxiliary Battery Stay on the Tree Through Rain, Snow and Cold?

Yes.

Can a Millertech Max 4.0 or Max 8.0 Power a Security Camera?

Yes. It’s a good fit for barns, cabins, gates and job sites with no power nearby. Many security cameras need the Security Camera Adapter USB-C 5V (Item #1118-SEC), sold separately.

Can I Charge a Millertech Auxiliary Battery With a Solar Panel?

Yes. It can charge from a solar panel while it powers your camera, using the Two-Way Splitter (Item #1117-SP), sold separately. Keep the solar panel's output at or below 12.6V and 5A (63W).

Can I Lock My Millertech Auxiliary Battery to a Tree, and Will Critters Chew the Cord?

It’s built for the woods. The power cord is stainless steel, so squirrels and other chewers can’t get through it. Anti-theft cable slots let you lock the battery to the tree with your camera’s security cable.

Can I Take the Millertech Max 4.0 or Max 8.0 on a Plane?

The Max 4.0 can fly, but only in your carry-on. The Max 8.0 can't go on a passenger plane at all. Here's how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules work for spare lithium batteries and power banks:

  • Carry-on only: spare batteries are never allowed in checked bags.
  • Under 100Wh: no airline approval needed.
  • 101Wh to 160Wh: airline approval required, and no more than two spares. The Max 4.0 (155Wh) is in this group.
  • Over 160Wh: not allowed on passenger planes. The Max 8.0 (310Wh) is in this group.

Always check with your airline before you fly.

Can I Use a Millertech Auxiliary Battery as a Power Bank for Camping, Fishing and Hunting Camp?

Yes! That’s what the USB hub is for. One battery runs your trail camera during the season, then slides into the hub and goes along to the campsite, the boat, the deer blind or the ice shanty. Everybody’s phones, the tablet for the kids, headlamps and the laptop stay charged without a generator or a running truck. https://millertechenergy.com/product/slide-on-usb-charging-port-for-1128-trail-camera-battery-1128-usb/

Can I Use a Millertech Auxiliary Battery With a 6V Trail Camera?

Yes. Add the 12V to 6V Step Down Converter (Item #1119-CONV) between the battery and your camera.

Can One Millertech Auxiliary Battery Run Two Trail Cameras?

Yes, with the Two-Way Splitter (Item #1117-SP). Two cameras share the same battery, so expect the run time per charge to drop.

Does the Millertech Auxiliary Battery Have an AC Wall Outlet?

No. It has DC barrel plug output for cameras and USB-A and USB-C ports through the hub. It’s built for USB gear and 12V-style camera power, not for household plug-in appliances. For bigger off-grid power, call our Support Team about Millertech’s larger batteries and inverters.

How Do I Check the Charge Left on My Millertech Auxiliary Battery?

Both the Max 4.0 and the Max 8.0 have a built-in battery usage meter.

How Do I Mount a Millertech Auxiliary Battery on a Tree?

An adjustable mounting strap comes in the box, and the battery has a removable mounting plate. For bigger trees or posts, add the 48" Nylon Strap (Item #1124).

How Do I Recharge My Millertech Auxiliary Battery?

Plug in the battery charger that comes in the box. Need a second charger for the cabin or the truck? The 12.6V 3A AC Charger (Item #1123) and the 12.6V 2A AC Charger (Item #Z3085) are sold separately.

How Long Does a Millertech Max 4.0 or Max 8.0 Take to Charge?

From empty to full with the included 2A charger, the Max 8.0 takes about 14 hours and the Max 4.0 takes about seven hours.

How Long Will The Millertech Max 8.0 Auxiliary Battery Run My Trail Camera?

Six months plus on a single charge, depending on your camera model and how you use it. Cellular cameras, video, burst mode and night shots with infrared all use more power, so a busy camera will need a charge sooner than a camera taking single daytime photos. The Max 8.0 is rated for up to 30,000 photos.
