Something is always on. Propane and carbon monoxide detectors, stereo memory and control boards draw a little power around the clock, and over weeks that adds up. Before storage, charge the battery fully, then flip the battery disconnect or remove the cables. A Millertech lithium battery loses only about 1% to 3% of its charge per month on its own, so once it’s disconnected it’ll be ready in spring.

Most factory RV panels guess your charge from voltage, and they’re set up for lead-acid. A lithium battery holds a steady voltage almost all the way down, so those panels often read wrong. Trust the Millertech app instead: it reads remaining capacity straight from the battery’s Battery Management System (BMS). If the app also shows the battery isn’t reaching full, your converter may be using a lead-acid charging profile

It’s what’s inside, and what stands behind it. Millertech uses Grade A cells built to its own specifications. Its commercial-grade BMS is oversized by at least 20A. As Millertech puts it, “This, of course, costs us more.” A Sport Series battery also includes Bluetooth, the app, a marine-sealed case and the 10-year warranty. Amazon may offer cheap lithium, but that’s what you get. Cheaply made, and the suppliers are here today and gone tomorrow.

Check these four things first:
• Cold: a standard lithium battery won’t take a charge below freezing, to protect the cells. Warm it up or use a heated battery.
• Charger profile: a lead-acid setting may stop short of a full charge.
• Sleep mode: if the battery ran all the way down, the BMS puts it to sleep. Wake it with a lithium charger, a jump pack or another battery that’s at least 50% charged.
• Connections: loose or corroded terminals block charging. Use ring terminals, snug and clean.
