Can One Millertech Auxiliary Battery Run Two Trail Cameras?

Yes, with the Two-Way Splitter (Item #1117-SP). Two cameras share the same battery, so expect the run time per charge to drop.

Do I Need to Change Anything on My Boat to Switch?

Two things to check:

  • Charger: use one built for lithium. An old lead-acid or AGM charger could overcharge a lithium battery, or it may not have enough voltage to charge it fully.
  • Terminals: use ring terminals, not clamps.

For the battery your outboard charges, choose a Millertech Dual Purpose battery. It's built to work with your outboard's alternator. If you're not sure about your setup, call our Support Team at 855-MAX-LITH.

Do Lithium Batteries Need Any Maintenance?

Almost none: there’s no watering. Three habits prevent most problems:
• Keep the battery out of standing water.
• Use a lithium charger.
• Keep connections tight: ring terminals, torqued to 10 ft-lb.

Does a Heated Battery Drain Itself to Stay Warm?

No. The heater turns on only when a charger is connected and the battery is below 32°F. It warms the cells, then charging starts.

Does It Matter If I Have a Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, Motorhome or Camper Van?

Most RVs use the same 12V house system, so the same batteries work across them. The differences are in charging:
• Travel trailers and fifth wheels: charging from the tow vehicle is limited (see question 42).
• Motorhomes: the engine’s alternator can charge your house batteries, but only if its output tops out at 14.6V or below.
• Camper vans: space is tight, so the smaller size and lighter weight of lithium matter most.
Tell our Support Team what you drive and we’ll match a battery to it.

How Do I Store Lithium Batteries Over the Winter?

To winterize:
• Charge the battery fully.
• Disconnect every load and cable.
• Store it with nothing attached.
LiFePO4 loses only about 1–3% of its charge per month, so it holds charge well over the off-season. Millertech’s “How to Winterize Your Boat’s Millertech Batteries” video walks through it.

How Do I Store My RV Batteries Over the Winter?

  • Charge the battery fully.
  • Disconnect every load and cable, or leave a solar panel connected with the controller on a lithium setting (see "Can I Leave My Solar Connected While My RV Is in Storage?").
  • Store it with nothing else attached.

LiFePO4 loses only about 1% to 3% of its charge per month, so it holds its charge well through the off-season. Millertech's winterizing video walks through it.

How do I wake up a lithium battery in low voltage protection mode?

To wake up a lithium battery in protection mode, use a lithium charger, which is specifically designed to bring the battery out of low voltage protection/sleep mode. If the lithium charger doesn’t work, you can try “jumping” the battery by connecting it to a dedicated jump pack or another battery. Using equipment designed for lithium batteries is the most effective and recommended way to reactivate a battery in protection mode.

How Long Will The Millertech Max 8.0 Auxiliary Battery Run My Trail Camera?

Six months plus on a single charge, depending on your camera model and how you use it. Cellular cameras, video, burst mode and night shots with infrared all use more power, so a busy camera will need a charge sooner than a camera taking single daytime photos. The Max 8.0 is rated for up to 30,000 photos.

How Many Years Will a Lithium RV Battery Last?

About 10 years, and more than 3,000 charge cycles. A lead-acid battery usually lasts one to two years. That’s why every Sport Series battery carries a 10-year warranty.

How Many Years Will a Lithium RV Battery Last?

About 10 years. Cycle life depends on how deeply you drain the battery each time: up to 10,000 cycles at 30% depth of discharge, 7,000 at 50% and 5,000 at 80%. A lead-acid battery usually lasts one to two years. That's why every Sport Series battery carries a 10-year warranty.

How Much Longer Will Lithium Last Than AGM?

Much longer, and exactly how long depends on how deeply you drain the battery each time. That's called depth of discharge (DoD): how much of the battery's capacity you use before you recharge. A Millertech LiFePO4 battery is rated for:

  • 30% DoD: 10,000 cycles
  • 50% DoD: 7,000 cycles
  • 80% DoD: 5,000 cycles

Lead-acid gets 150 to 300 cycles and usually lasts one to two years. And on every cycle, a Millertech battery delivers 100% of its rated capacity.
