36v Boost Package
I am writing a review for this because it took me a fair amount of time to decide what to do. Hopefully, this review will help others out who are going through the same process. I have 2021 Robalo R200 with a Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor. The trolling motor is powered by three traditional 27M 90amp-hour batteries connected in series to get to 36 volts. Each battery weights 51 lbs. I would like to be able to tell you that I fish the boat every weekend but that’s not the case. Many times, the boat is used to go beach hopping along the barrier islands of southwest Florida. The boat has nice seat cushions in the bow along with removeable backrests. On beach hopping days, those seats are always occupied. With two people forward in the bow, and 153lbs of trolling motor batteries located forward, at slow speeds the bow had a slight ‘plow’ to it (will not turn crisply). Because of this, cutting down on the weight of trolling motor batteries became a priority, so I started looking at lithium batteries. The first question was ‘how much power do I need’? This is the math I used (use what you feel is correct). For traditional lead-acid batteries, about 50% of the power is usable. That gave me 45-amp hours @36 volts with the traditional batteries. If I replaced them with three lithium 100 amp-hour batteries (80%+- of the power is usable), I would get around 80 amp-hours of usable power from a battery set that weighs around 75 lbs less. That would be a huge, but expensive, upgrade. In addition, my Minn Kota Precision 3-bank charger is just old enough to not have a lithium charging mode so I would need to purchase a 3-bank lithium charger. As I investigated other replacement options I ran across some reviews where they replaced three 12-volt batteries with a single 36-volt lithium battery. Researching this option I found the Miller Tech Boost Package. It included a 36-volt, 60 amp-hour battery, and a single-bank lithium charger. This option would give me around 48 amp-hours of useable power. That is slightly more usable power than what I had with the traditional batteries and is 110 lbs lighter! The numbers looked good and so did the reviews, so I went ahead and ordered the boost package, along with Miller Tech’s group 31 battery tray. The order arrived in a few days. The worst part of the installation was taking out the old batteries and charger. It was a maze of cables. I took all of that out along with the old group 27 battery trays. The new Miller Tech lithium charger is more compact (and weighs less) than the old one, so it was easy to install in the old charger’s space. The new Miller Tech Battery tray is a solid piece of aluminum, and it includes a pad that the battery sits on. I mounted it midship and strapped the new battery into it. I connect the charger leads, trolling motor leads, and leads from a 36 volt to 12volt converter that I decided to add in case I want to run something that is 12 volts. The result is a very clean looking package. Now for the performance. My first outing was 15 miles offshore in the Gulf of America. The swells were 1-2 feet with a lighter wind. I used the trolling motor on anchor lock and did some maneuvering. Between the swell and wind, the motor had to work. After 5 hours I had 72% of the battery left. I am very happy with the setup.

36v 60AH worth the money!!!!!
Fished 10 hours today and kept my Ultrex 112 on 5 a majority of the day. Average day with winds at 5 - 10 mph and used spot lock a few times. Checked the app when I got home and still have 92% battery life remaining. Typically, my Group 27 AGM batteries would have been down to 25% or less. Glad I finally made the switch to Mllertech Lithium.
